Prince, Minneapolis, 1978. That’s the Schmitt mural, which I believe is still around.
Photo by Robert Whitman. I saw it via Sam Grobart’s Facebook feed, and it has apparently been bouncing around the Web for a while, usually without attribution. It didn’t take much digging to figure out who took the shot - I just dropped the image into Google image search.
It’s the kind of thing that makes me a bit uncomfortable with “we’re all curators now” meme. “It belongs to everyone, and no one,” Felix says. But really, it belongs to Robert Whitman. And maybe he’s cool with it showing up on Tumblr and Facebook and Twitter, et al. But it’s helping those companies build value regardless.

Stars Wars + Photoshop = Art, or something. Guess this came out last fall but only saw now, randomly, while idling in a Barnes & Noble. (See! Bricks and mortar still useful). From Cedric Delsaux, endorsed by George Lucas.

Pat Kiernan is awesome and he also stirs up a bit of nostalgia for me. Because there was a long stretch when I really relied on him to tell me what was in a bunch of newspapers. And that concept seems like covered wagon times now.

Sh*t Pat Kiernan Says

This is the last one of these I’ll post (for now).  But this is a great one for anyone who lives, works or watches TV in NYC.

This is a Mickey Mouse Joy Division shirt and it is real and you can buy it here, from the Walt Disney Company. From Pitchfork, via Facebook. (Hey look! I’m a curator!)

To steal from someone and not feel bad, you either have to be a sociopath or view the act differently. One way is to remove “Someone” from the equation.
Louis C.K. explains his appeal to the torrenters.
